Taping

Pai

Athletes are best known for using taping as injury treatment. However, it’s not just athletes who can enjoy the benefits of taping.

Taping, also known as strapping, is an injury recovery or prevention treatment. Our physiotherapists use this technique to protect existing injuries, in addition to aiding the recovery of new wounds.

By taping certain areas of the body, the limbs are unable to move as freely as normal. By restricting movement, injuries are able to heal faster and more efficiently. This reason is why taping is especially popular with athletes wanting to quickly return to work or sporting events.

Furthermore, this treatment can reduce swelling, relieve pain, and act as a compress on the skin. Taping is easily adaptable for every situation, perfectly suiting our bespoke treatment plans.

Injuries that will benefit from taping (but are not limited to):

  • Muscle strains
  • Ankle sprains
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Tendonitis

While our physiotherapists can provide this treatment, they can also teach patients how to apply taping to themselves.

Although taping is an effective treatment, it is only temporary. For more serious or chronic injuries, our physiotherapists can recommend better suited treatments.

If you believe taping will benefit you, please contact us to find out more. SP Physiotherapys goal is to help our patients reach optimal health and we will continuously strive to achieve this.
