Physiotherapy & Podiatry Home Visits
When getting to the clinic isn't realistic, our HCPC-registered physiotherapists and podiatrists come to you, with the same assessment, the same treatment, and the same standard of care.
Is a home visit right for you?
Most people who call us have reached the same point: the treatment they need is clear, but the journey to get it isn't manageable any more. Sometimes that's temporary, the weeks after an operation. Sometimes it's ongoing.
You don't need to be housebound to qualify. If travelling to Mill Street would leave you exhausted, in pain, or dependent on someone else's day off, a home visit is the sensible option.
- You're recovering from surgery and can't comfortably get in and out of a car
- Mobility has declined and leaving the house has become a significant undertaking
- You've had a fall and lost confidence moving around
- You're living with a neurological condition affecting movement or balance
- You can no longer safely reach, see or cut your own toenails
- You don't drive, and there's nobody available to bring you regularly
- A chest condition makes travel difficult
- You'd simply rather be treated at home
Arranging this for a parent or relative?
That's how a large share of our home visits start. You're welcome to call on their behalf, ask questions, and get a clear picture before anything is booked. We're happy to speak to them directly afterwards if they'd prefer to make the decision themselves.
Which service do you need?
Two different services, both delivered at home. If you're not sure which applies, tell us what's wrong when you call and we'll work it out with you.

- Elderly rehabilitation strength, balance, confidence and falls prevention

- Corns and callus reduction and ongoing management
- Ingrown toenails assessment and conservative treatment
- Verrucae assessment and treatment
- Thickened or fungal nails reduction and care
- Foot pain heel pain, arch pain and lower limb discomfort
- Foot health reviews catching problems before they escalate
Need both?
Plenty of patients do, particularly older patients working on mobility who also need their feet kept comfortable, since sore feet undermine every walking exercise we set. We can arrange both services and, where practical, coordinate the visits so you're not managing two separate schedules. Mention it when you call.
What we can't do at home
Being straight with you saves a wasted appointment:
- Nail surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and must take place at our Mill Street clinic, in clinical conditions. We can assess the problem at home and arrange the procedure if it's needed.
- Electrotherapy requires clinic equipment.
- Full gait analysis is best done in clinic, though a podiatrist can carry out a basic movement assessment at home.
If what you need falls into this list, we'll tell you on the phone rather than after we've arrived.
Making the enquiry
Home visits are arranged by phone, not online booking. That's deliberate. We need to understand your situation, your home and your condition before we can confirm the right clinician, the right equipment and the right appointment length.
Call 0141 266 0230 and expect a short conversation covering:
- What you need help withThe condition, how long it's been going on, and what's difficult day to day.
- Physiotherapy, podiatry, or bothIf you're unsure, that's fine. We'll work it out with you on the call.
- Where you areSo we can confirm you're within our visiting area.
- Your homeStairs, access, parking, and whether there's space for a portable couch.
- PracticalitiesWho'll be in, whether a carer or family member should be present, and any access arrangements.
At the end of the call you'll have a price, a time, and the name of the clinician coming. Nothing is charged for the enquiry, and you're under no obligation to book.
Prefer email? Send the same details to enquiries@spphysiotherapy.co.uk and we'll call you back.
Before and during your visit
Preparing takes a few minutes, no more.
Your physiotherapist will talk through your symptoms, history and goals, then examine your movement, strength and function.
Here's the part a clinic appointment can't replicate: they'll watch you manage in your own environment. How you rise from your armchair, climb your stairs, get in and out of your bath. That's the real test, and it routinely surfaces problems that never show up in a treatment room.
Hands-on treatment starts in the same visit, manual therapy, soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, guided exercise, or chest physiotherapy, depending on what you need.
You'll finish with exercises tailored to your home and the furniture in it, practical advice for managing pain and moving safely, and an honest view of the likely timescale. Where it helps, we'll suggest small changes around the house that make daily tasks easier.
Your podiatrist will ask about your general health, medications and circulation, then examine your feet, nails and skin, checking for anything that needs attention beyond the immediate reason for the visit.
Carried out in the same appointment. That may be nail cutting and filing, reduction of corns or callus, treatment of an ingrown nail, or care for thickened nails. All instruments are sterile and either single-use or fully decontaminated between patients.
Practical guidance on footwear, daily foot care, and what to watch for between appointments — particularly important for anyone with reduced sensation or circulation.
If we find something that needs a GP or a clinic procedure, we'll tell you clearly and help arrange it.
After the visit
Most patients need a course of treatment, not a single appointment. Physiotherapy rehabilitation typically runs over several sessions with exercises between them. Routine foot care usually settles into a regular cycle — commonly every six to ten weeks, depending on how quickly your nails grow and what needs managing.
We'll agree a schedule that suits you rather than defaulting to a fixed package.
- Between appointments You'll have your exercises or care advice, and you can call the clinic with questions.
- If travelling becomes realistic again We'll move your appointments to our Mill Street clinic and carry the treatment plan across, you won't start over. For many post-operative patients that's the goal, and reaching it is a good sign.
- If things change A new problem, a deterioration, a fall, call us. It's easier to adjust a plan than rebuild one.
Where we visit, and what it costs
We also visit care homes, sheltered housing and residential settings across Renfrewshire, subject to the facility's arrangements.
Not sure if you're in range? Call 0141 266 0230. If you're just outside our usual area we'll still have the conversation rather than turn you away on a postcode.

Home visit FAQs
Do you offer physiotherapy and podiatry home visits in Paisley?
Yes. SP Physiotherapy provides both physiotherapy and podiatry home visits across Paisley, Renfrewshire and parts of Glasgow. An HCPC-registered clinician comes to your home with the equipment needed to assess and treat you. Call 0141 266 0230 to arrange a visit.
Do you have a mobile podiatrist for elderly patients at home?
Yes. Our podiatrists visit patients at home for routine foot and nail care, including toenail cutting for people who can no longer reach or see their feet safely. We also treat corns, callus, thickened nails, verrucae and ingrown toenails.
How much does a home visit cost?
Home visit pricing depends on your location and the treatment needed, so we confirm the price on the phone. Call 0141 266 0230 - there's no charge or obligation for the enquiry.
How long does a home visit last?
Physiotherapy home visits are 60 minutes, covering both assessment and treatment. Podiatry home visit length depends on the treatment required and is confirmed when you book.
Do I need a GP referral for a home visit?
No. Both physiotherapy and podiatry home visits can be booked privately without a referral. If you're under the care of a GP or consultant we'll work alongside their advice, and we'll refer you back to them if we find anything needing medical attention.
Can I book a home visit for my elderly parent?
Yes, and it's one of the most common ways home visits are arranged. You can call on their behalf, ask questions and get a price before anything is confirmed. We're happy to speak with them directly too, and family members or carers are welcome to be present during the appointment.
Can I have physiotherapy and podiatry in the same visit?
They're separate appointments with different clinicians, but we can arrange both and coordinate the timing where practical. Many older patients benefit from both — foot discomfort makes mobility work considerably harder.
Do you visit care homes and sheltered housing?
Yes. We visit patients in care homes, sheltered housing and residential settings across Renfrewshire, subject to the facility's arrangements. Call to discuss.
Can you do nail surgery at home?
No. Nail surgery is performed under local anaesthetic and must be carried out at our Mill Street clinic in appropriate clinical conditions. A podiatrist can assess an ingrown toenail at home, provide conservative treatment, and arrange the procedure if surgery is needed.
What equipment does the clinician bring?
Physiotherapists bring portable treatment equipment, including a portable couch where space allows. Podiatrists bring sterile instruments and everything needed for foot and nail treatment. We ask about your home layout when you book so we arrive prepared.
How often will I need appointments?
Physiotherapy rehabilitation usually runs over several sessions with exercises between them. Routine podiatry care typically settles into a cycle of roughly every six to ten weeks, depending on nail growth and what needs managing. We agree a schedule with you rather than applying a fixed package.
Which areas do you cover for home visits?
Paisley, Renfrew, Barrhead, Linwood, Johnstone, Elderslie, Erskine, Bishopton, Clarkston, Clydebank and Glasgow, plus surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether you're in range, call 0141 266 0230.
Can I switch to clinic appointments later?
Yes. Many patients start at home and move to our Mill Street clinic as mobility improves. Your treatment plan transfers across — you won't start over.
