Traditional acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years. Originally practised in Chinese medicine, acupuncture has now spread across the world.

Our physiotherapists are fully trained in the use of Western Acupunctureand are registered with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). Modern acupuncture is based on medical data and scientific research, designed to manage pain, inflammation, and overall health.

After an initial assessment appointment, our physiotherapists will suggest treatments they recommend. If they suggest an acupuncture treatment plan, we will discuss this further.

Conditions that can benefit from acupuncture are:

  • Sports injuries
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Arthritis
  • Migraines
  • Stress

Although acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin and some discomfort is to be expected, there should be no pain from these small needles. Acupuncture will help restore energy in the body that will help with healing. This treatment will promote relaxation, stiffness, swelling, and pain relief.

If you believe you will benefit from acupuncture, please contact our team in Renfrewshire to find out more. SP Physiotherapys goal is to help our patients reach optimal health and we will continuously strive to achieve this.
